Welcome!
You know, it’s not easy being a middle school student. Peer pressure, schoolwork, busy schedules and difficult decisions are enough to drive anyone crazy. The middle school student ministry exists to provide a warm, welcoming environment where students are encouraged and challenged to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, their love for God, and their service for the Kingdom.
Here’s what’s going on in the Middle School Ministry!
WIRED is the place where junior high students can cut loose and have a blast with tons of their friends! From 5:00pm-7:00pm on Sunday evenings, WIRED is an exciting mix of upbeat music, crazy skits, wild videos, and hilarious games. Each student also leaves with a message that relates to them personally and challenges them to live life to the fullest.
Student breakfast is a time for middle school and high school students to gather downstairs in the TPC gym in between Sunday morning services for breakfast and an engaging, discussion-based Bible study. Middle School director Lewis Lovett leads the middle school study. This is a great opportunity for students to dive deeper into Christian community and God’s Word. Join us at 10:00am on Sunday mornings!
Are you ready to take the next step? D-groups [discipleship groups] are organized by grade and gender and are the core of the student ministry. Incredible adult volunteers from within TPC lead each group with the goal of bringing students to maturity in their relationship with Jesus Christ. D-Groups meet during the 2nd half of each WIRED event on Sunday evenings.
Modgnik is a retreat, but it’s also a one-word reminder that we’ve been called to live in God’s “backwards kingdom.” The retreat exists to help junior and senior high school students consider how to live their lives in light of that calling, as well as to provide a fun weekend away from everyday life with their friends at a fantastic retreat facility.
The retreat takes place at Rockbridge Alum Springs, which is a Young Life camp and retreat center. During the weekend, there are four large group meetings with skits, games, worship and a talk that takes place on Friday and Saturday nights, and Saturday and Sunday mornings. All meals from breakfast Saturday to breakfast Sunday are included and happen on-site, and the food is excellent! Any unscheduled time is open for students to take advantage of some of the great activities that are available, including a high ropes course, climbing wall, zip-line, game room, frisbee golf course, basketball gym, tennis courts, skate park and several large athletic fields. A snack bar is available for students to purchase sodas, candy and other treats. Students and leaders are housed in climate-controlled bunkhouses.
It’s a great time!
